looking up.

matthias, even though you were born 18 months after david, in many ways you have become the big brother. not just because you are twice david's size, but also because you are able to do more things and you learn so quickly. i know you didn't ask for this role, but you are doing such a good job of watching out for david. sometimes you can be a bit bossy, but i guess big brothers tend to do that. i love to watch my boys together. i love that you have a hard time falling asleep if david isn't in his bed next to you. i love that you set your toys up so that david can knock them down. you are starting to notice david's differences, but you don't mind at all. you love and accept him just the way he is. any other thought has never crossed your mind. even though technically you are the little brother, it's obvious that david looks up to you.

matthias, you have charmed my heart. what a winderful brother you are. brother is a big word. brother can mean protector, or best friend. we don't get to choose who our brother is, but we can choose what can of brother to be. sounds like you choose to be a good one. be blessed honey. jen

Lisa, you are doing a great job. You are a wonderful Mommy. Jen

it is a beautiful thing the way siblings look out for each other and are connected.

Without a doubt, David is lucky to have his brother, Matt. It is really beautiful bondings between two of them.

I learned from a workshop that if one of the sibling is a disability, the non-disability tends to work with people such as: speech therapist, teacher, or working with any special need children. To be frank with you, I already saw my older son, who is a typical child like Matt, tends to act like he is a teacher to my younger son, who has a mild autism. He was teaching him in math. Not only to him, he does correct the proper way to pronounce the words to me.

But the matter is that, it is another thing you can be thankful that Matt has a LOT OF PATIENCE with his brother, David.

so sweet, so wonderful !!! and both blessed to have each other !!!

are you keeping journals for both of them with things like this written for them ????

I sure wish I had years ago...but nobody I knew was doing anytihng like that 20 years ago.....all we did was keep things like first time to roll over, sit up etc.

and now I'd give anything if I had written a monthly letter to them letting them know what they were like and what they were doing.
