happy birthday, matty!

It's actually on Tuesday, but we celebrated today with a couple families and Nana and Papa. Matty was so excited. He helped me make the rocket ship decorations and bake the cupcakes. We set the table together. We ordered pizza and let the kids run around. It was a stress-free celebration.

We also said good-bye to his pacifer today. This is a sad time, but at some point, we have to make the break. We have explained that big boys don't need pacifiers anymore. Instead they get to go to bed with a flashlight. We got him a really cool flashlight for his birthday. Growing up so good and so hard!!

Happy (early) birthday sweet guy!!

Interesting...going to bed with a flashlight. I agree that it is time to say good-bye to pacy. Let me know how the flashlight plan works.

Yes, please let me know how the flashlight works out! Sounds like a great idea. I tried telling TJ about the Paci Fairy, and how you give her your paci for all the new babies that need them, and she leaves a "big-boy" present. Well, apparently those were the wrong words to say- TJ starts yelling, "I don't wanna be a big boy!!" over and over... I think this may be connected to having a baby sister in the house now, too...
oh well.
Happy birthday, Matthias!!

It is a fine idea of having a flashlight--hopefully he does not stay up late with a flashlight (winks) My younger son just requested a flashlight last night for his "Home Sweet Home" tent.

Hope your idea from pacy to flashlight works!

When my cousin turned 4, my aunt collected up all of the binki's in a sac and told him that they were going to Toy 'R Us and he could use his binki's to buy a new toy. Once he had picked it out, he brought it up to the register and then reached into the binki bag and placed each one on the register. The teenage guy there just played right along and "rang" him up! ;)
